Danny Elfman’s Oz the Great and Powerful Opening Sequence and History with Tim Burton

Danny Elfman's Oz the Great and Powerful Opening Sequence and History with Tim Burton

Longtime Tim Burton film composer collaborator Danny Elfman recently used his musical talents for the opening sequence to the 2013 adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s Oz the Great and Powerful. If I didn’t know better this opening sequence seems to have Burton style written all over it, what do you think? Danny Elfman and Tim Burton have joined artistic forces for more than 25 years. On other news to celebrate their 25 years of conjoined talents, on October 7, 2013 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Elfman will sing publicly for the first time in 18 years, accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra, performing notable songs from Burton’s classic films, with original production artwork and drawings from the films to create a visual backdrop. Read more about out the official show in press release below. I checked and all the tickets are completely sold out on all showings. Bummer!

The Killers x Tim Burton x Winona Ryder - Official Music Video - Here With Me

So here is the official The Killers x Tim Burton music video titled Here With Me, featuring none-other than Winona Ryder in manikin form. Also staring Craig Roberts from Submarine.

Directed by Burton and filmed entirely in Blackpool UK, Here With Me is about a young man’s romance with Winona Ryder’s character (which looks like a flashback from Edward Scissorhands) but there is a twist at the end which resembles a similar realm to Burton’s Oyster Boy poems.

Check out the full length video below, let me know what you think!

I could listen to Helena Bonham Carter talk about her life with Tim Burton all day. Watch parts of The Gramham Norton Show. With guest Helena Bonham Carter as talks about Christmas Tree decorations by Tim Burton and other notoriously eccentric details from this oddball couple.

Carter: “It’s very traditional… [but] as you got closer, you saw there were zombies and dead babies and… He’s obviously a sick man!”

How Much Did Michael Uslan’s Joker Sketch Sell For?

How Much Did Michael Uslan's Joker Sketch Sell For?
I’m still waiting to hear how much the Michael Uslan Joker Sketch sell for? The news dropped early November that Uslan was auctioning off a sketch he did featuring who he thought would make the perfect Joker for a Batman movie. That happen to be Jack Nicholson.

Uslan’s burst of inspiration came in 1980 from the pages in the New York Post. Which was the iconic publicity photo of Jack Nicholson from the “The Shining” hacking through a door announcing “Here’s Johnny!”

Uslan’s sketch consisted of black marker, a red pen and White-Out, turning Nicholson into of the clown prince of crime.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Poem Read by Sir Christopher Lee

This maybe some old news to most but for those who are still unaware of the deep history behind Tim Burton‘s classic The Nightmare Before Christmas. That in fact it started of as a mere poem. Burton wrote the original poem in 1982 while working for Disney Animation.

After that Disney has wanted to develop Jack Skellington and his Halloween Town into a short film or TV Christmas special, but feared it might be to scary for kids. So ultimately the idea was sent to the cutting room floor.

In 1993 the stop-motion animated classic based off the 1982 poem became a Burton cult classic.

Tim Burton was spotted in the seaside town of Blackpool, U.K. last week shooting a music video for The Killers with longtime pal Winona Ryder. This would be the second music video directed by Tim Burton for the Killers, the first one being “Bones” (below). No word on what song this Tim Burton video will be for, but I’m sure it is off the new album Battle Born, anyway I can’t wait to see it! Any time Burton gets to put forward his unique visuals it is always becomes a classic masterpiece.

Also I hope Burton goes through with Jane Goldman-penned “Pinocchio” adaptation, don’t you?

Yolandi Visser x Weird Girl – Who’s More Freakish?

weird-girl-yolandi-visser
One of my fans found this cool split screen photo of Yolandi Visser from Die Antwoord and Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie character “Weird Girl” (voiced by Catherine O’Hara). “Weird Girl” is an very eccentric girl and one of Victor’s classmates, who is obsessed with the psychic predictions of her cat, Mr. Whiskers. Yolandi Visser is a south African singer/rapper known for her animated personalities. I did some digging and found out the connections get weirder. Sofia Coppola played the live-action “Weird Girl” aka Anne Chambers (as Domino) in the 1984 Frankenweenie and as you can see Yolandi and Anne Chambers both have a Hello Kitty infatuation. See below.
