Based off Frank Millers adaptation of the Dark Knight you are introduced to Carrie Kelly also known as Robin a thirteen year old schoolgirl Batman saves from a group of gang members on the night of his return from retirement. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Animation

Batman fans get excited an all-new Dark Knight animation is on the way! Warner Bros. Animation announced today the voice cast for its upcoming animated DVD movie. Based on the 1986 Frank Miller comic book adventure The Dark Knight Returns. The voice cast will include: Peter Weller known for his role as Robocop will take the lead voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne and Ariel Winter from the Modern Family will voice Robin. This new animated adaptation of Frank Millers four-part graphic novel will be spit into two animated features titled Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 and Part 2. The first part will hit stores this fall on DVD, while the second chapter we will have to wait for in 2013. Directed by Jay Olvia the animation follows the graphic novel, set in near future where Batman is retired and Gotham City has slid into a dystopian state ruled by a gang of hooligans called The Mutants. The 55-year old Bruce Wayne is forced to don the cape once more, this time partnering with a female Robin to stop the Joker and to keep the peace when the city falls into chaos after being hit by an electromagnetic pulse.
