Roland West’s The Bat Whispers

So upset that I missed this I completely forgot about it! The Spectacle Theater in Brooklyn played The Bat Whispers the 1930 Roland West film tonight. I so badly want to see this film, I have only seen bits and pieces.
I love vintage Batman stories. So I thought I would share a little bit of what I know about the original story that influenced the comic-book creator Bob Kane. Who said in his 1989 autobiography Batman and Me that the villain of the 1930 film The Bat Whispers was an inspiration for his character Batman. Kane then went along creating the Batman May of 1939
But Roland West’s Bat was also influenced by the original creator writer Mary Roberts Rinehart, who created a costumed super-criminal called “the Bat”, for Broadway in 1920.
In The Bat Whispers…a hooded, criminal mastermind named The Bat. Has been terrifying the city daring the police to catch him, now a bank is robbed, and the country estate of the aristocratic bank president becomes the center of mysterious happenings.
The Bat Whispers is filled with wonderful character acting, amazing and elaborate sets, huge looming shadow play, and striking Gothic imagery.
