3D Trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim

Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have released the full official trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming “Kaiju” film Pacific Rim. Set to open in IMAX theaters on July 12, 2013 Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Brad William Henke and Diego Klattenhoff. In the near future, giant monsters identified as “Kaiju” have risen from a crevasse in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in a war which takes millions of lives and quickly consumes humanity’s resources. To combat this new threat, a special type of weapon is designed: massive robots, known as Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. As time passes, even the powerful Jaegers prove almost defenseless in the face of a relentless enemy. On its last stand and on the verge of defeat, the remaining defending forces of mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to pilot a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the early trials of the mechanical titans. Together, they must stand as the human race’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Walmart and Warner Bros announced they are giving fans a chance to see “Man of Steel” before it hits theaters! Tickets for this advance screening of “Man of Steel,” go on sale in more than 3,700 Walmart stores starting at 8am on May 18, 2013 and will take place at selected local theaters nationwide at 7 p.m. on June 13, 2013. Henry Cavill who plays Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel film will grace the cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly out this week! the film also stars Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff. As a young boy Clark Kent learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind. The article goes on to explain some minor plot elements from the film, including the fact that Kryptonite will not be featured in any form whatsoever.

The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, has announced the 2012 winners of its Annie Awards were last night and here is the complete list of winners. Also one of the highlights of the event was Terry Gilliam accepting his Winsor McCay Award via video and the very cool special Texas Avery Award statue for life achievement to June Foray best known as the voice of animated characters as Lucifer (Cinderella), Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Granny, Natasha Fatale and Magica De Spell.

DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, along with Cartoon Network prepare to release a new half-hour action-adventure series based on the world’s greatest detective, Beware the Batman. Which takes a different approach to the classic Dark Knight franchise, with the show featuring Batman’s core characters facing off against villains that have never been seen in animated form before like Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad, and Magpie. Also in this series Alfred Pennyworth is former secret agent, and Batman teams up with a lethal swordswoman, named Katana. The show will feature cutting-edge CGI visuals, and will be included in Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block in summer 2013.

I am definitely looking forward to this, I have the original comic book.

Warner Bros. starts off 2013 with some big news. The company has decided to bring back its feature animation film division, kicking it off with The Lego 3D Movie set to release 2014, Storks in 2015, and Smallfoot in 2016.

I am excited to hear there news maybe some new 3D Looney Tunes productions will on their way.

Warner Bros. Pictures has formed a feature animation creative consortium, marking a new and innovative approach to the establishment of a diverse and far-reaching animation slate. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

The mission of the new think tank is to help develop and produce high-end animated motion pictures, with the goal of releasing one feature per year under the Warner Bros. Pictures banner. The select team of accomplished filmmakers will collaborate with the Studio to frame and guide a variety of projects from start to finish.

The artists who will be involved in Warner Bros.’ new feature animation venture are: John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, (“Crazy, Stupid, Love.,” “Cats & Dogs”); Nicholas Stoller (“The Muppets”); Phil Lord and Chris Miller (“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”); and Jared Stern (“Mr. Popper’s Penguins”).

The filmmakers will work both individually and collectively, supporting one another artistically in the making of the films. They will not be exclusive to the Studio’s animated film productions; rather they will also continue to write and direct live-action movies. This new endeavor reflects Warner Bros.’ ongoing commitment to being a filmmaker friendly studio, which invites and fosters original projects, continually expanding the entertainment scope of its slate.

In making the announcement, Robinov stated, “Warner Bros. has an extraordinary legacy in the world of animation, including some of the most enduring characters in cinema history. Looking to the future, we have now gathered some of the best and brightest talents in the industry to help us grow and broaden that legacy. Drawing upon their imaginations and inspiration, the Studio will produce a slate of new and original animated films that are sure to delight audiences of all ages.”

The first feature in the pipeline is the upcoming 3D animated adventure “The LEGO Movie,” being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from their own screenplay. Bringing the globally popular LEGO construction toys to the big screen for the first time, the film is being produced by Dan Lin and Roy Lee and stars the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, and Morgan Freeman. The animation is largely being accomplished at Australia’s Animal Logic. A presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, “The LEGO Movie” is slated for release on February 7, 2014.

Among the other projects being developed are: “Storks,” conceived and being written by Nicholas Stoller and to be directed by Oscar(R) nominee Doug Sweetland (PIXAR short “Presto”); and “Smallfoot,” to be written by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, from an original idea by Sergio Pablos (“Despicable Me”), who is also set to direct. The films are being targeted for release in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

The development of animated features will be overseen at Warner Bros. by Courtenay Valenti, Chris deFaria and Greg Silverman. Overall look, character design and the story reel process will be housed in Burbank; however the Studio will look to partner with established animation studios for production of the films.

New clip from DC Entertainment and Warner Bros., Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 [Blu-ray]. The clip features Batman facing off against a large contingent of Gotham City police and their Commissioner Ellen Yindel.
