5th Annual Summer of Sony: SMURFS 2!
Columbia Pictures takes the Smurfs gang and the Naughties on a belated break to Cancun Mexico to promote at the 5th Annual Summer of Sony: SMURFS 2! The cast and crew Katy Perry, Hank Azaria, and Neil Patrick Harris enjoyed the surf, turf, and Smurf alongside director Raja Gosnell and producer Jordan Kerner enjoyed photos ops in the beautiful Mexican sun, in front of a huge pop-up Smurf set/backdrop on the beach, which featured a huge Smurf statute a blue replica of the Eiffel Tower. The Smurfs 2 is an upcoming 2013 American 3D family comedy film and a sequel to the 2011 film The Smurfs. Based on The Smurfs comic book series created by the Belgian comics artist Peyo, it will be the second film in the The Smurfs trilogy, produced by Sony Pictures Animation and distributed by Columbia Pictures. The film is being directed again by Raja Gosnell, with all the main cast returning. New cast includes Christina Ricci and J. B. Smoove as members of the Naughties, and Brendan Gleeson as Patrick Winslow’s stepfather. The film is set for release on July 31, 2013. R.I.P Jonathan Winters who voiced Papa Smurf died on April 11, 2013.

Pop star Britney Spears will be lending her voice talents for the end credits of Sony Animation’s Smurfs 2 animated film with an original track titled “Ooh La La”, that will also be on the Smurfs 2 soundtrack.
Britney says: “I have always loved the Smurfs as a kid and now my boys are the biggest Smurfs fans EVER. I wanted to surprise them with a song in the movie. I know they’ll think it’s Smurftastic!”
She also tweeted: “Remember that surprise song I recorded for my boys? It’s coming soon! #OohLaLa for #TheSmurfs2

Smurf’s director, Raja Gosnell commented: “I am very excited that Britney is joining our Smurfy adventure. ‘Ooh La La’ is the perfect Smurf-party song, and the perfect button on the film for audiences around the world.”

Schleich x Sony Pictures Animation: The Smurfs 2 Figurines
At this years New York Toy Fair I swung by the Schleich booth and got a chance to check out the new Smurfs figurines inspired by the upcoming Sony Pictures Animation latest feature film The Smurfs 2 the sequel to the 2011 animated movie. The new line of Schleich Smurfs figures features new characters Vexy and Hackus plus all the regulars Papa Smurf, Gargamel & Azrael, Vanity, Smurfette also new is the Smurf set, based off The Smurfs 2 movie of 2013.
Sony Pictures Animation The Smurfs 2 movies hits theaters July 31, 2013. And you can find the Schleich Smurfs at authorized dealers around the world starting in May. Check out more pictures below.

New Schleich Smurfs 2012 Preview NYTF
Check out the Schleich Peyo Smurf display at the 2012 New York City Toy Fair. The new Smurf line theme this year is “Long live sport: the new Smurfs are fit as fiddle and don’t shy discipline.” The set includes featuring only the strongest of the strongest smurfs, the Show Jumper, Javelin Thrower, Sprinter, Swimmer, Relay runner, Weightlifter, Gymnast, Beach volleyball player, Shotputter and Winner! It’s pretty obvious this is another 2012 Olympic Games competition inspired line. Either way I love the Smurfs and I am huge fan of whatever Smurf set Schleich puts out each year, since they are the number one Smurf figurine maker. Oh and the set is set to launch into stores May 2012!
