Pacific Rim WonderCon Trailer Exclusive

Ok I know I haven’t been writing too much about Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ but after seeing one of the giant robots smash a cargo ship into a giant sea monster, definitely caught my attention. The official WonderCon ‘Pacific Rim’ trailer that debuted at the end of March has finally been released to the public, and is everything you would expect from a “Kaiju” film. If you don’t know, Pacific Rim is an upcoming American science fiction film directed and written by Guillermo del Toro. Pacific Rim is set in a near future where human soldiers pilot giant robots to battle against invading giant monsters (“Kaiju”) who have mysteriously risen from beneath the Pacific Ocean. Pacific Rim is by Legendary Pictures, distributed by Warner Bros and will release in 3-D and IMAX 3D on July 12, 2013. Check out the exclusive WonderCon Pacific Rim trailer below.

If you are one of the many fans excited about the 50th anniversary episode of the beloved British sci-fi show Doctor Who, then you have to check out this stop-motion animation made just for you. Created by artist Alisa Stern the “Doctor Puppet” creation is a short mini-series spoof. Featuring miniature versions of the Doctor, the TARDIS, the sonic screwdriver, psychic paper, and more. Watch three episodes, titled “The Red X”, “The Conjunction of Eleven,” and “How the Doctor Puppet Saved Christmas” below. Let me know what you think of “Doctor Puppet.”

Check out the BBC exclusive Doctor Who animation from The First Doctor Regenerates, Tenth Planet. With the threat of the Cybermen foiled, Polly and Ben find the Doctor has beaten them to the TARDIS and closed the doors. As they hammer on the door, the controls operate of their own accord and the central column begins to rise and fall….Those who are avid follows of BBC’s Doctor Who knows that the Doctor’s occasional regenerations are an important part to the show them, along with the character’s alien nature. In the final episode of season 3, the character fell to the floor of his ship, the TARDIS, and became another man in appearance. The process wasn’t given a name or explained as an integral part of his life-cycle until later, but it still became an important part of Doctor Who lore, which is why the disappearance of that episode reel over 30 years ago is such a blow to television history, and what has made it the second most sought after ‘lost’ television reel for the BBC – the first being their recording of the 1969 moon landing. Here is a clip showing the regeneration for the frist time. The rest of the episode and three preceeding it, will make up the Tenth Planet storyline, where Doctor faces the Cybermen for the first time on DVD this fall as part of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary celebration. Hall said: “It’s a real thrill to be bringing such an iconic Doctor Who episode back to life. Without the events established in The Tenth Planet episode 4, there would be no Doctor Who as we know it!”

Here is a first look at The Hunger Games: Catching Fire “Victory Tour Posters” featuring winners of the 74th Annual Hunger Agames, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). I love the clean lines and cool colors.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begin with Katniss and Peeta having to leave their friends and family behind after winning the 74th Annual Hunger games the two embark on a “Victor’s Tour’ of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

The Hunger Games: Catching fire hits theaters November 22, 2013, staring Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland and Woody Harrelson.

Here is a movie that kinda slipped under the radar but is worth checking out. Robot and Frank, directed by Jake Schreier and written by Christopher Ford, follows the story about two children and an aging ex-convict named Frank. The family hires a robot (voiced by Peter Sarsgaard) to help take care of Frank, who later befriends the robot and starts using his new companion to commit a heist in order to win the affection of the local librarian. Sounds strange yes but I like where this idea is going. Plus anything dealing with robots is a definite watch. The film won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Check out the trailer below and check your local indie movie theaters for show times this weekend.

All-new episodes of the hit Syfy series Face Off starting tomorrow August 21, 2012 9/8c. I just recently became a fan on Face Off, which is an American reality television game show that show cases a group of prosthetic makeup artists who compete against each other to create prostheses  found in science fiction and horror films. Hosted by McKenzie Westmore,  and judges Ve Neill, Glenn Hetrick, Patrick Tatopoulos and Neville Page. The season finale will be broadcast live on Halloween, October 31, 2012. Make sure you don’t miss it if you do you can catch it on Hulu!
