Steve Carell in Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Live-action Film

Funny man Steve Carell will play the character Ben for the new live-action adaptation of the children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. The film is set to be directed by Shawn Levy along with director Lisa Cholodenko. In the book, Alexander wakes up with gum in his hair, doesn’t get a prize in his cereal, finds out he has a cavity, has lima beans for dinner and gets demoted to third best friend by his buddy Paul. No word yet on who will play Alexander or another other cast member as of yet, or when the film starts production. But I will keep you posted.

Adult Swim launches five-day live-action Robot Chicken webcam event January 15, 2012

Adult Swim’s Emmy Award-winning show Robot Chicken will broadcast its 100th episode Sunday, January 15 at 11:30 p.m. during the Adult Swim block on Cartoon Network. Created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich under their Stoopid Monkey Productions banns. To celebrate the 100th episode–which spoofs Sex and the City and classic kids show characters like Yogi Bear, Power Rangers and Woody Woodpecker.

Adult Swim has launched a five-day live-action webcam event that answers the probing question: “What happens when a robot and a live chicken are left alone in a motel room?”

The Ultraman Saga is an up coming live-action Japanese science fiction, action adventure movie that follows the Ultra Series history about how Earth has been invaded by alien bat invaders. Warriors “Ultraman Zero”, “Ultraman Dyna” and “Ultraman Cosmos” come from different time eras joining forces to protect the earthlings from the space invaders. The Ultraman movie “Ultraman saga” will be in 3D and is set to hit theaters March 24, 2012 in Japan. This weekend November 26, 2011 “Ultraman saga” advance ticket sales begin the movie is sure to sell out since it a cult classic.

Some History behind Ultraman the main characters were created by Eiji Tsuburaya from Tsuburaya Productions, who was a pioneer in special effects and responsible for bringing Gojira/Godzilla to life in 1954. The show’s predecessor was a series called Ultra Q, a black-and-white 28-episode series very much like the original Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone.

Warner Brothers Lego live-action moive 2014

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs writer-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller along with animation studio Animal Logic are working on building a animated live-action hybrid film set in the Lego world. Also producers of the film have linked up with Lego executives in Denmark for inspiration. The film is set to be released in 2014 and casting for the live-action characters begins in January. We will keep you posted as the Lego pieces come together!

Kristen Stewart as Kei In The Live-Action Akira Movie

A live-action american adoption based off the 1988 manga Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo is getting a lot of buzz since word of offering Kristen Stewart the role as Kei, a woman who is part of an underground movement that’s sol purpose is to expose the government for experimenting on orphans turning them into weapons of mass destruction. Stewart as Kei has come to a disappointed to many Akira fans due the film not casting Japanese stars and moving the movie from Neo-Tokyo to New Manhattan. In the anime the city was destroyed by a boy named Akira, who had psychic/supernatural powers. No word yet on who may play Akira other possible cast members for the film include, Garret Hedlund Kaneda, the main character and leader of a biker gang, Gary Oldman as the Colonel and Helena Bonham Carter as Lady Miyako.

Screenwriters including Steve Kloves, produced by Leonardo Di Caprio’s Appian Way production company, and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra Warner Bros. has also hinted the film maybe an intro into a trilogy!

Live Action Akira Debuting as Early as 2011

It’s been over twenty years since the immensely popular anime “Akira” captivated the world, creating a strong cult following to this day. Though fans have been content with just re-watching the original over an over and reading the manga series that started it all, talk of a live action movie sent fans into a frenzy. With Warner Bros. helming the movie and Leonardo Dicaprio rumored to star in and produce the film, anime forums began buzzing with debate. However, originally rumored for a summer 09 release, months went by without one more word uttered on the project leading many to believe the Akira project dead in the water (or at least kept in an underground cryonic chamber). Those worries were put to rest when writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) were confirmed to be working very diligently on getting the script just right. If the script is accepted then production could start in 2010, with a release date of 2011. This is great news for Akira fans to know that an anime of such caliber is being worked on patiently and not rushed for quick profits.

Though, with much of the Akira movie still being shrouded in a cloak of mystery, fans cannot help but speculate on what to expect. Will Leonardo DiCaprio actually have a role? Will Tetsuo’s famous fight with the milk crying teddy bear remain intact? Will Kaneda be Japanese unlike the Dragonball live action??

This is what we do know about the movie:
1) Kaneda’s famous bike is in it
2) It’s set in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan
3) It will be awesome.. or so we hope!

I will continue to provide updates on the status of this blockbuster as I get it. In the meantime, pop in the Akira DVD and fantasize about what life will be like after the live action release!

Cartoon Network’s new original series set for 2010

Cartoon Network is up dating it’s image with an all new line up of kids programming, combining live-action and animation with all. Earlier this month CN announced two new cartoons production on Regular Show and Horrorbots will join, the journey-themed animation The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Adventure Time.
CN’s two new animated programs includes: Regular Show which follows the strange lives of two, groundskeepers Mordecai a blue jay and Rigby, a raccoon, created by J. G. Quintel. Horrorbots, is about two high school outsider teenage droids, Thrasher and Blastus on the planet Killglobe, created by Michael Buckley and Joe Deasy, along with co-executive producer Christy Karacas.
CN has renewed Flapjack for additional episodes for a total of forty-six episodes. Flapjack is about a washed-up pirate-explorer Captain K’nuckles along with his sailor-boy predecessor Flapjack and their crazy adventures through the sea, with no shortage of candy! An Adventure Time, which has not aired yet on CN has been given the go-ahead for additional episode write-ups as well. Both cartoons will be produced at Cartoon Network Studios with a 2010 premiere.
