The Smurfs known also as Les Schtroumpfs originally a Belgian comic strip is celebrating it’s 50th year by creating a new CGI movie, comic strips with new adventures, new figures and an exhibit at the Brussels Cartoon Museum. Yahoo also reports of new female characters to accompany Ms. Smurfette in the CGI movie !

Dragon Ball & Naruto on Second Life this weekend!

the lead characters of the Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece manga will be making a special two-day appearance within Linden Lab’s Second Life online virtual world to coincide with the Jump Festa event this weekend. “Jumpland@Second Life” festivities on December 22 and December 23 at the real Makuhari Messe convention center outside Tokyo.

Most contests in the comic book business are geared toward artists. Shadowline, in partnership with Newsarama, is bucking the tide and creating a contest geared toward writers!
The winner will be announced April 28 with initial concept art/character design by Franchesco. First issue will be solicited with a cover date of November, 2008
