I stumbled upon this great Batman blog so I’m going to share a few cool stories they posted. Bat-Blog shared the release of some new USB by Mimoco called Mimomicro featuring some of DC Universes‘ most notable superheroes Wonder Woman, Superman, and the oh so popular Mr Dark Knight himself Batman. The new Mimomicro are a step up from the basic Mimoco USB even starting from the look. The feature a more chubi like style bodies verses the typical elongated oval. Use Mimomicro as a USB flash drive with removable microSD memory cards, it also functions as a microSD card reader to transport data between mobile phones, tablets, e-readers, digital cameras, and mp3 players to your computer. Pretty functional and cute!

This story is dedicated to all the Ghostbusters fanatics that have taken time out of their busy lives to assemble a replicated Proton Pack prop from the original Ghostbusters. In this story we give you first hand information and advice on building your very own proton pack from OG GB novices. With diagrams and links collected though out the inter-web we provide you with the history of the Proton Pack with different variations of the evolution of the pack through photos collected from fans around the world.

The beginning the original Proton Pack from the Ghostbusters I movie was designed by Dr. Egon Spengler. Though in reality it was constructed in post-production of the 1984 Ghostbusters movie prop department at Columbia Pictures. The originals were made of molded fiberglass shells on aluminium backplates also known as “motherboards” bolted to military surplus A.L.I.C.E. frames which stands for Advanced Light Infantry Combat Equipment. The first completed prototype props from Ghostbusters I weight approximately 35 lbs. Some of the packs from Ghostbusters I were used in the followup of Ghostbusters II for close-up shots. Midgrade “stunt” packs were made in two variations one of fiberglass and one of rubber for Ghostbusters II movie. Those packs were produced for when actors needed to make that dramatic fall. All three variations of the GB2 pack have been displayed at various Planet Hollywood restaurants around the U.S.

Each Proton Pack energy cell has a half-life of 5,000 years. The Proton Pack is a portable particle accelerator system that is used to create a charged particle beam composed of protons, fired by the proton gun “neutrona wand” or “positron collider”, it functions by colliding high-energy positrons to generate its proton beam. This beam allows a Ghostbuster to contain and hold “negatively charged ectoplasmic entities”. Energy emitted by the Proton Stream helps to dissipate psychokinetic energy which ghosts are made of allowing them to be captured in portable ghost traps. The proton stream is quite destructive to physical objects, and can cause extensive property damage. Knobs on the Proton Pack can perform various functions to customize the proton stream for intensity, length, and degrees of polarization. In the movie crossing the streams was initially discouraged unless you are in the presence of a cross-dimension portal and should only be used as a last resort.

Many movie prop replica communities have collections of several different sets of construction plans for building your very own Ghostbusters Proton Packs. From easy to hard there are step-by-step instructions to stimulate your very own pack. We found that Norm Gagnon has pretty vivid and very intense diagrams while Sean Bishop has a more simpler approach either way both are very well put together and easy and fun to read. Beware you will be absorbing terminology for the beginner Ghostbusters fan who is looking to take their energy to the next dimension. We have complied a set of photos and showcased some pieces of diagrams to introduce to a world beyond the movies.

Building props parts info/resources and links: what you need to know to get you started.

1-2) Gear Box/ Proton Pack (EDA/PPD “Primary Power Distributor”) – normally made of wood or multi-density fiberboard. The Power Cell – plastikote black primer/silicone
3) Gunmount (attaches to “motherboard” and particle thrower)
4) Power Cell – made of blue plexi , Power Cell Window – red plexi for the cyclotron and yellow for the particle thrower, Injector Tubes – circuit boards
5) Ion Arm – consist of parts such as – Dale Resistors (very hard to find, Gary Legris Bows (rare, found at surplus stores)
6) Spacer “the comma” (supposedly the hardest and most time consuming part to assemble) please refer to diagrams ; )
7) Cyclotron “cake pan” (this part contains the nuclear particle accelerator which is fed through Neutrona Filter) you will use blue LED for lighting
8)Proton Gun/Particle Thrower “gunbody” (made hallow for electronic access) there is only one type of pain based used by the pros and is found at PEP BOY called Plastikote gives a metallic like finish.
Lights that are best used come from Linrose Electronics Company and Radio Shack (see links for more info)
9) Sticker Decals – suggested having them printed out from rippedsheets.com on a self adhesive photo paper using a photo gloss resin perm

Betrayal will be released in four chapters, written by Scott Allie and drawn by Brian Horton.

Star Wars: Legacy Vol. 1 – Broken: takes place more than a century after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi and focuses on a fifth-generation Skywalker named Cade, a rogue Jedi and bounty hunter who travels the galaxy living by his own code. Broken will be released in two parts, written by John Ostrander and drawn by Jan Duursema.

Namco Bandai panel at this years Gamescom 2009, revealed new future collaborations with new partners: game developers Ninja Theory and Game Republic.
Ninja Theory is known for developing the hit PS3 exclusive Heavenly Sword. During the press panel Game Republic president Yoshiki Okamoto discussed the first two games from the Namco Bandai partnership. The first title is an action game is based on the Clash of the Titans movie from Warner Bros. due out next year and the second is an action/adventure game called Majin. Both titles will be for PS3 and Xbox 360 and will be releasing in Spring of 2010.

Game development firm Banpresto Japan recently announced the release of this super cool, retro inspired NES Controller Business Card Holder!The card holder features a red and gold controller with black buttons. Banpresto Japan is known Tenchi Muyo! RPG, and Sailor Moon video games. Banpresto got it’s recognition in the gaming community through Sega’s Arcade division.
