2012 Eisner Award Nominees Marvel vs. DC Comics @ SDCC

Just announced the Will Eisner Award nominees and sharing the spotlight are the comic book industry’s bad boys DC Comic and Marvel both tied for 11 nominations each, two in which are shared. Marvel’s Daredevil has six nominations. The 2012 Eisner Awards will take place Friday, July 13, 2012 part of San Diego Comic-Con. Check out the complete list below.

New Poster Art for Man of Steel Movie June 2013

Here is the new banner/emblem/poster art for the upcoming superhero Man of Steel film based on the Superman character by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Set to be directed by Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan along with studio DC Comics and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film will be shot in Chicago, Illinois and will release into IMAX theaters June 14, 2013. The film follows the typical beginning of Clark Kent’s life. The new post art looks pretty dark I wonder if that is the direction production will take.

Vintage DC Comics Check for Superman Up for Auction @ ComicConnect

About 70 years ago this check was cut by DC Comics, and sent to Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster both from Ohio for their creation of Superman in the early 1930s. The character’s first appearance was in “Action Comics” No. 1 in April 1938. The Check from DC Comics to this dynamic duo was in the amount of $412.00 USD. The check was saved by a DC Comics staff member in the 1970s and sat undisturbed in a drawer for 38 years. The check includes a line item for $130 showing that DC paid for full ownership and rights to the man of steel. The check is still in “auction” status online through ComicConnect which started today till April 16, 2012. It was said that bidding jumped with hours to 12,500.00 USD.Check out so of the comments below.

First Look CW’S DC Comics Arrow Series

Here is a first look at the new CW‘s pilot “Arrow” a Smallville spin-off. Based off the DC Comics “Green Arrow” first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in November 1941. Original character was created by Mort Weisinger George Papp. CW’s Arrow will be produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, David Nutter, Melissa Kellner Berman, story by Berlanti & Guggenheim. Starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen also known as the Arrow (or Green Arrow.) The plot starts after Queen has been marooned on a remote island for five years. Queen a former billionaire playboy turned superhero returns back into general population with a mysterious agenda and a new set of lethal skills to fight the war on crime. Pictured above is the promotional teaser for CW’S Arrow. The suit was designed by three-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood. I can’t wait to check out this series considering Green Arrow is part of the Justice League so maybe we will catch other notable superheros too. Stay posted for dates for 2012-2013 first season.

Formerly “The History Of The Universe As Told By Wonder Woman” follows the evolution and legacy of DC Comics Wonder Woman created by William Moulton Marston and H. G. Peter. The Film takes in depth look by going the behind the scenes with Lynda Carter, Lindsay Wagner, comic writers and artists, and real life superheroines such as Gloria Steinem, Shelby Knox and others who offer an enlightening and entertaining counterpoint to the male dominated superhero genre. The Wonder Woman The Untold Story of American Superheroines will have its premiere at SXSW next week. The producers have release another clip from the film. One of the highlights for me at 2012 Toy Fair is The Dark Knight Rises with Mr. Potato Head, limited edition collectible Mr. Potato Head will be available June 2012 right before the movie hit’s theaters July 20, 2012. This is a great addition to any DC Comics or Mr. Potato Head serious collector. Also in the DC Comics superhero line is a classic Superman and Wonder Woman in Mr. and Ms. Potato Head of course will be launching fall of 2012 here is a sneak preview of the box art and potato’s.
