KAWS “Passing Through” Companion @ Philadelphia 30th Street Station
Earlier this month the word spread about another KAWS large-scale 16-foot-tall “Passing Through” Companion was getting ready to occupy Philadelphia 30th Street Station. Here is a picture of the new and nearly completed “Passing Through” Companion which will be part of a larger exhibition for the Sculpture Plinth Exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) set to open in October 2013. KAWS’ Companion has made many stops so far including unveilings in Connecticut, New York, Georgia and Texas. Keep your eyes peeled for the complete statue this Summer! On friday March 15, 2013 the lastest OriginalFake Astro Boy KAWS version in gray color-way released and sold out in a matter of 3 minutes! I know cause I was lucky to get one. The grey KAWS Astro Boy vinyl statue approximately 15″ tall, produced by Medicom. You might still be able to sang one on eBay. I love that is black and white…Astro Boy looks like how I feel. I don’t normally post about custom vinyls, only cause there are so many of them! but this Happy Camper custom KAWS Companion Mickey Mouse by JC Rivera I have to admit is pretty nice. My only quam is that I think it would have looked better with matte paint.

OriginalFake x Fragment Design Astro Boy 2013 Capsule Collection
Confusing! I thought this stuff had already dropped especially the pillow/cushion, now it looks as if the these items have turned into a “capsule” collection. A follow up to the 2012 KAWS Astro Boy Companion vinyl toy. The capsule collection is in collaboration with Fragment Japan and will mark the start of 2013, with a Astro Boy a cushion and T-shirts and a cushion releasing on January 3, 2013.

KAWS x 86th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for amNewYork Magazine
Earlier this week amNewYork a free daily morning newspaper, published in New York City by Cablevision. Launched a front and back cover promoting The 86th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade featuring the artwork of graffiti artist Brian Donnelly aka KAWS. Not only did Doneely artwork make the amNewYork spread but Donnelly also introduced his popular KAWS character “Companion” to the mainstream with his very own float. Which made its debut today at the Thanksgiving Day Parade. KAWS art work and toys are highly collectable so if you were not able to catch the parade or the amNewYork you can add this official Kaws Macy’s piece to your collection through eBay

KAWS Companion Art on MTA Times Square Shuttle
So cool! check out these flicks from a couple of MTA Subway Times Square Shuttle cars, the entire car seems to be filled top to bottom with KAWS artwork. I also think the KAWS got his inspiration from Dr. Suess, what do you think? I these cars are out to promote the introduction of the KAWS Thanksgiving Day Companion Balloon (float), part of the Macy’s Day Parade. Make sure you don’t miss it at 9:00am EST on Thanksgiving Day. The KAWS Companion Balloon will be making its debut along side a second version Hello Kitty and Papa Smurf! I will update with more pictures as they surface!
