Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling – Church Cottage for Sale

Joanne Kathleen Rowling‘s Harry Potter novels (7), have sold about 450 million copies making it one of the best-selling book series in history. Living a fairy tale, rags to riches story. J.K. Rowling has been coined one the “Most Influential Women in Britain” becoming a billionaire within a mere five years, after the release of the first Harry Potter book. Her inspiration for the Harry potter series, derived partly from a train trip from Manchester to London in 1990, along with her childhood home (Grade II-listed) Church Cottage in Tutshil (Tutshill is one of the Quidditch teams in the books), near Chepstow, with Gothic inspired architecture, trap doors, dusty cupboard under the stairs is reminiscent of the corridors in Hogwarts. The current owner Julian Mercer, a BBC producer bought the house back in 1995 from Rowling has put the house on the market for is going for £399,950. approximately 634,400.USD. Mercer said: ‘It is a truly lovely cottage. It is quite small but has wonderful architecture and a gorgeous garden surrounding it.
‘When we first moved in J.K Rowling was not a known name and it was a couple of years later that the Philosopher’s Stone came out.
‘It was then that we knew the significance of the name written on the windowsill. We have redecorated the house completely since moving in but we always painted round it.’
