Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Update

With fairy tales the hottest popular culture trend trim. Director Tommy Wirkola’s is set to revamp the classic fairy take Hansel and Gretel in a live-action fantasy film Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. Paramount Pictures has confirmed that the film will be Rated R. The story takes place 15 years after the Brothers Grimm‘s Fairy Tale gingerbread house incident. The film finds Hansel and Gretel working as bounty hunters, tracking down supernatural beings. Starring Jeremy Renner (The Avengers), Gemma Arterton (Clash of Titans) and Famke Janssen (X-Men). The film has also been moved back to a January 11, 2013, release date and will be shown in 3D.
In a interview with Arterton she says: “its a mix of Pulp Fiction and fairly tale.”
The heart of it is that these kids grow up to be bloodthirsty witch hunters. It’s a bit tongue in cheek, really.
Though it’s comedic, deep down it’s about abused kids becoming kind of hyper-responsible?
But it’s also very, very dark, and bloodthirsty and there’s a lot of cursing. It’s kind of got a [Quentin] Tarantino feel, really.
